After qualifying in 1998, Riaz completed his MSc in Prosthetic Dentistry from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute. He then worked in different Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments across the country from 2002 before joining Leagrave in 2007. He took over as Principal Dentist in 2016. He has completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology from Bristol Dental School, Post-Graduate Diploma in Sedation from King’s College London as well as the Certificate in Minor Oral Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In the meanwhile, he also passed the relevant examinations and obtained the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England; as well as the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow. He has obtained the Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons. He is an accredited trainer in sedation for Dentists and Dental Nurses by the IACSD (Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry). He has been accredited as a Level 2 Oral Surgery performer by NHS England, which accredits him to perform more complex oral surgical procedures.
He has been providing sedation for several years, and is experienced in providing sedation for very anxious patients, medically compromised patients and advanced conscious sedation techniques. He is therefore well-placed to provide various treatments such as implants, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry under sedation.
He works as a Speciality Doctor in Oral Surgery at the Milton Keynes General Hospital one day a week, and is an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow in Sedation at the Eastman Dental Institute. He lectures at the Advanced Sedation Study Club at the Eastman Dental Institute. He is a member of the NHS England Managed Clinical Networks (MCN) for Special Care Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, and Minor Oral Surgery; and is a member of the Local Dental Committee (LDC) and the Luton Oral Health Alliance.
Puja qualified in 1998, and completed her MSc in Dental Public Health from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute, London in 2000. At the same time, she also obtained her Diploma in Dental Public Health from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (DDPH RCS Eng). She has also passed her Diploma in Endodontics with Distinction from the University of Chester. She joined Leagrave in 2008 and became Principal Dentist in 2016.
Puja has a very gentle and caring attitude towards her patients, and has been seeing generations of the same family for the past few years! She is good at treating young children, elderly and anxious patients. She enjoys doing contemporary endodontic treatment (root canal treatments) for challenging endodontic cases.
She is proficient in ethnic languages such as Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching, travelling, gardening, cooking and spending time with her two children.
Having graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2009, Anand completed his vocational training year in Bedford. After a few years, he was given the opportunity to work in his hometown and treat the local community of Luton. Recently, Anand has completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in Sedation from King’s College London. He has also completed a postgraduate certification in Restorative Dentistry, allowing him to treat more advanced complex cases. He has also obtained The Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Although all areas of dentistry appeal to him, his special interests are Cosmetic dentistry, use of the Inman Aligner to straighten teeth and all areas of Paediatric dentistry, especially treating the anxious patient. He always looks to provide a service which is reliable and as comfortable as possible, to ensure a successful experience with us. Outside of the practice, he enjoys socializing with friends and family as well as watching and playing sports, especially football and golf.
Prem is an associate dentist, and graduated from Manipal University in 2012. She has also had additional training in the field of Oral Implantology.
Prem loves the variety of work in general practice and does her utmost to ensure that visits are as positive, relaxed and comfortable as possible.
Away from the practice, Prem enjoys spending time reading, traveling and cooking.
Morteza graduated from Bart’s and the London School of Dentistry, after which he completed his Foundation Training in the London Deanery. After working as a general dental practitioner,he pursued his interest in endodontics (root canal treatment) by completing his speciality training at the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute in London. He subsequently passed membership in endodontics examinations for both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England.
His practice is limited to endodontics, accepting internal and external referrals for complex root canal treatment procedures, diagnosis of dental pain, dental trauma injuries as well as endodontic surgery.
Morteza has a calm and friendly approach, taking time to discuss treatment options, procedures and putting patients at ease.
Outside of dentistry, he is an avid sports fan, traveller and enjoy spending his time with friends and family.
Pritesh Raval is our practice specialist Periodontist. Pritesh qualified from Kings College London in 2008. He has extensive experience including working in general dental practice on the South Coast and in Central London. He has worked in the Maxillofacial department at the prestigious Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead undertaking and assisting in complex head and neck surgeries and difficult dental extractions. He has also worked in a specialist community setting working with vulnerable adults and children as well as undertaking teaching at dental schools. In 2016, he undertook his specialist training at the world-renowned Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London. He gained his specialist qualification in periodontics on a program which is accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology. His specialist interest lies in management of advanced gum disease using surgical and non-surgical treatments. Management of peri-implant diseases and soft tissue treatment. His friendly manner, experiences and knowledge base places him in an ideal position to treat gum and peri-implant diseases to a specialist level.In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his young son, socialising and keeping fit. He has also taken part in several triathlons and is currently training for a half marathon.
Paul qualified in June 2000 at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and after completing a years’ service in South Africa community hospital he relocated to the UK in 2001. Paul has a particular interest in IV sedation, oral surgery and implantology and has gained vast experience in all of these fields over the years. He has advanced his knowledge and skills by obtaining a degree in implantology at the prestigious Lille University in France in 2009 and by completing numerous hours in post graduate courses to stay abreast with the latest techniques.
Paul’s passion and skill in implant dentistry has enabled him to literally change the lives of many patients by rebuilding their whole smile with dental implants. These beautiful life changing smiles can only be achieved by having an extensive knowledge of dental implants, crowns, bridges and smile makeovers.
Paul is a member of SAAD (Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry), ADI (Association of Dental Implantology), EAO(European Association for Osseointegration), AO (American Academy of Osseointegration), BDA(British Dental Association) and GDC (General Dental Council).
Waguih is a specialist in Oral Surgery and holds a teaching post at Guy’s Hospital Dental School, London. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and attends the Leagrave Dental Sedation Clinic to carry out all aspects of Oral Surgery.
In his spare time, he enjoys travelling and reading.
Neeta graduated from Sheffield University in 1989. She pursued a career in oral surgery, working initially at hospitals in Sheffield, York and Bath. She progressed to more senior hospital roles, gaining experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery and at hospitals in Salisbury, Norfolk and Norwich and at the Central Middlesex Hospital in London. She gained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in1993 and is on the Specialist Register of the General Dental Council for Oral Surgery. She subsequently worked in Cambridge for 6 years and is currently a part time locum consultant oral surgeon for a large NHS trust.
She provides specialist oral surgery for patients, carrying out most surgery under Local Anaesthesia. However, she is a member of SAAD (Society of the advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry) and for the anxious patient conducts surgery under conscious sedation.
Specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and special interest in Dental Implantology
Karun is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Birmingham Dental Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital. After graduating from Manipal Academy, India with distinction, Karun worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, US. In the U.K, he subsequently completed his MSc in Prosthetic Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute. He completed his Higher Specialist Training in Restorative Dentistry from Birmingham Dental Hospital. Karun works at Leagrave one day a week.
Karun has a keen interest in dental implantology, periodontal surgical procedures and endodontics. He has written extensively in national and international journals and also refereed papers in Dental Update and British Dental Journal. He teaches regularly to undergraduates and postgraduates having provided various national and international courses. Karun was also the past Chairperson of Specialist Registrar society in Restorative Dentistry and has organised national conference and study days. In his spare time, he has passion for sports such as Cricket, Badminton and Squash. He also loves spending quality time with his daughter and travelling.
Aubrey has always had an interest in anaesthesia and sedation. He provided general anaesthesia in dental practices until 2001, after which he has been providing conscious sedation for the past 15 years. To date, he has provided over 35,000 sedation’s. He trains students on the UCL certificate course in inhalation sedation, and regularly attends sedation CPD courses and seminars to keep up to date.
Michael was the Principal Dentist at the Leagrave Dental Sedation Clinic until his premature death in May 2013. During this time, he pioneered intravenous sedation for children, and treated thousands of children who otherwise would have required general anaesthesia. Most of his current staff have been with the practice for a very long time and he trained everyone to a high standard.
Michael did his MSc in conscious sedation and special care dentistry from King’s College London in 2001 and then taught paediatric sedation and special care dentistry techniques to undergraduate and master’s degree students at Kings until 2007.
Michael also found time to complete an advanced diploma in implantology at Lille University in 2008. He was very active and involved in every area of dentistry; he was the treasurer of the Local Dental Committee for many years and he was on many other committees such as the Shadow Commissioning Group, the CCG Estates Group, Local Professional network and the Oral Health Advisory Group to name just a few. Michael was also, on many occasions, called to act as an expert witness in court. He also travelled the world giving presentations at international dental conferences on paediatric sedation techniques and special care dentistry.
Most recently, Michael achieved a life-long ambition by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Keech Cottage Hospice for Children.
On the 2nd August 2013 which would have been ‘Woody’s’ 50th Birthday; his team at Leagrave Sedation Clinic unveiled a plaque dedicated to his memory which was placed at the entrance to the clinic.
